Dustin Poirier needs help, and he knows it.
Earlier this week, Poirier was arrested at the Atlanta Airport after being kicked off a flight for public drunkenness. On Tuesday, police bodycam footage of the arrest was released, showing an extremely agitated Poirier cursing at airport gate agents and then attempting to fight the responding officer before being taken into custody.
Immediately after the incident, Poirier posted a brief message to his social media saying he is “working on myself,” but had otherwise refrained from commenting. However, on Tuesday, Poirier again went to his Instagram account, this time with a new message about the incident.
Poirier retired from MMA in 2025 following his loss to Max Holloway at UFC 318 in New Orleans. Since then, Poirier has spoken openly about his issues acclimated to retirement, telling Full Send MMA, “If I’m not working towards something or trying to better my family, I’m a danger to myself.”
Since his retirement, Poirier has continued to train and work with fighters at American Top Team, has appeared on UFC broadcasts, and is also a regular on the UFC on Paramount’s program Deep Waters, discussing the latest in UFC news.
